Animal Caretaker/Show Staff

Requirements:

  • High School Degree/GED; Preference for further education

  • Ability to lift up to 50+ lbs and maintain good physical health

  • Availability based on part-time with possibility of full-time seasonal employment.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • College-level coursework in Animal Biology or other life sciences

  • Previous experience working/caring for animals (farm, veterinary office, shelter, etc.)

  • Public speaking experience

 

          Besides education and some experience, personality and the ability to work with biting, scratching, and moody animals (and people!) is required to make this position a good fit. Animals often work on their own schedules and patience is key. This job is not all cute babies and glamour, it is mostly hard work. If selected, you will be presenting our animal ambassadors to the public throughout the day and must feel comfortable speaking in front of small-large crowds. You will also be providing general husbandry to our animal collection. We are currently looking for one part-time employee. A good work ethic, the ability to manage time well, a positive attitude, and attention to detail help to keep the animals AND the visitors happy.

Animal Caretaker/Maintenance

"Walks" Sweeper

Requirements:

  • At least age 16+

  • Ability to lift up to 50+ lbs and maintain good physical health

  • Availability based on part-time or full-time position (Opportunities can start as soon as May and seasonal employment usually ends around the end of August/September)

 

          This position is great for high school/college aged students looking to work around animals and show staff in a positive environment. Sweeper will be monitoring visitor interaction with reserve animals and maintain cleanliness of the main grounds. We are currently looking for one full-time and one part-time employee. A good work ethic, the ability to manage time well, a positive attitude, and attention to detail help to keep the animals AND the visitors happy.

Photographer

Requirements:

  • At least age 16+

  • Camera/Lens Equipment

  • Part time availability 5-30 hours a week during summer

 

          This position is great for any person who has a great personality and a knack for taking photos. The photographer will work around customers, animals, and show staff in a positive environment. Energetic individuals who can relate to customers and sell offered photos will do very well in this position. Photography experience is highly preferred. A good work ethic, the ability to manage time well, a positive attitude, and attention to detail help to keep the animals AND the visitors happy.

Gift Shop/Admissions

Requirements:

  • At least age 18+

  • Part time availability 5-30 hours a week during summer

 

          This position is great for any person who has a customer service-oriented personality and an interest in working with the publice. The gift shop worker will handle admission and gift shop sales, welcome customers, and maintain the overall appearance of the gift shop. Energetic individuals will do very well in this position. Customer service/cashier experience would be a great plus! A good work ethic, the ability to manage time well, a positive attitude, and attention to detail help to keep the animals AND the visitors happy.
